What should I know before getting a puppy?

I'm thinking of getting either a golden retriever or a lab. Since I am on vacation in the summer I will a lot of extra time to train it. If anyone has a dog, you do not have a set timetable for feeding and walking times? and what do I know take my dog to the vet? My uncle told me that I have to get my dog license ….? I'm not too sure that any help is greatly appreciated

I keep a calendar with my dogs-7 and outside to pee, 8 breakfast then morning walk along, 2 wee break, 630pm dinner, evening stroll along 8 and 10 before the break wet their beds.
