i have a 3 month old pomeranian... ive been giving him dry food (IAMS puppy formula) and some chicken but is there anything else i can give him? i dont want to give him canned food. but he eats the chicken so fast that he throws up (he hasnt done that before)... i feed he 3-4 times a day and small amounts... what else can i feed my puppy?
thanks for your help
Here is what you need to look for when picking out a food:
1) Meat as your first 2 to 3 ingredients
2) NO Corn, Wheat, or Soy - these are common allergins and dogs cannot digest them. It just runs right through their bodies.
3) Grains & Carbs to look for - Brown Rice, Barley, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes.
4) NO by-products - this is beaks, feet, nasty stuff!
5) No mystery meats - avoid it if it says just "meat" or "poultry"
If you can find a food with all of those criteria, it will be a great food. A wonderful resource to help you out with this is www.dogfoodanalysis.com. It helped me find 8 wonderful foods for my dog.
There really is no best food to feed your dogs, it all depends on their breed, size, allergies, etc. But if you take a look at the website I gave you, I'm sure you will find something wonderful to feed them!
Good luck with your puppy! Feel free to email me with any questions.
