Any suggestions / ideas with toilet and puppy crate training?
I recently bought a puppy is a very small size breed Chihuahua (12 weeks), I decided the best way to train with a toilet would be the case, but I would be grateful for any advice. Hates to be caged, but I'm doing my best to ignore her when she cries, of course I just left the toilet regularly and she is not closed there all the time. I only had her two days so I understand that it will take time to get used to it. Any ideas what to do if I take her to go to the toilet at home? Please do not suggest rubbing your nose in it.
I just went through this a few months ago with my puppy. * Please do not put a blanket or paper in the box in just encourages wetting. * Keep cash in your bedroom at night. * Drop is in a cage so the dog leaves his car in a cage. * I always said my baby 'to sleep' when it was time to come to create, and any race for cash readily on COMAND. * Kongs are the best invention on Earth, also Hartz hollow toy fire hydrant at Wal-Mart, fill them beniful of (canned) and carrots and keep the freezer. I have three! This will help keep the puppy chewing and safely entertained in your absence. * Never leave your dog use of soft toys in a cage. * When the dog is off leash to keep him at home, so you know exactly where the puppy is at all times! (Most of my dogs accidents happened because of my lack of focus) * Go out very often but I do not think the dog needs to use the bathroom and always bring the dog to the same area and a command quickly, 'fast' as the dog goes. It is rewarding to bring this behavior, verbal praise is very useful! Accidents happen so please do not be angry with the pup. It takes about 6-9 months longer to build muscles of the bladder in a puppy! * Go out every two hours with the dog next month, then gradually pass the time. Be careful not to wait too long, puppies are prone to infection if they take too long. * Look for signs such as rhythm, running, sneezing, barking, fear, excitment, wagging his tail can be a sign it's time to go out. * My dog has a cow bell on the door and knows how to play for time off. Every Once I opened the door, I will ring, then the dog's leash and say 'outside'. After a bit 'the dog rang the bell when he wanted to quit. (Sometimes only boredom, but I took her out anyway!) You know the meaning outside bell five monthes old. * Taking Your Dog Puppy Kindergarten is worth every penny! My dog is confident, playing well with other puppies, happy with strangers, and quickly learn all new commands thanks to Puppy-K. Moreover, the dogs are so cute! Look for a trainer who uses positive methods only! Make sure the trainer does not use drills, chain shots, or yelling at the puppy in their teaching technique. Clickers are great. ** Practice 'Come' frequently, it could save your life pups! Good luck! feel free to write with questions! Try 'My Smart Puppy' DVD / book is great!
